The varsity boys team participated in a summer tournament for the first time in Tornado history as they played in the annual AYBT Purdue Shootout on Saturday and Sunday, June 19 and 20, 2010, at the Lafayette Jefferson High School gymnasium.

Players were Matt Heber and Eric Miller from Carroll High School, and Tim Sebald, Matt Banks, Nathan Hurless, Isaac and Nathan Sipple, and Andrew Moore (Sunday) from the Tornados.

Saturday 9:00 a.m. vs. Spiece: Lost a thriller 63-66 in overtime after leading 45-37 with 4:55 left to go. Scoring: Heber (43), Miller (9), Sebald (7), Hurless (3), Isaac Sipple (2), Banks (2) and Nathan Sipple (1). Heber and Miller had 16 and 12 rebounds. Heber led a late game rally with three buckets in the last 1:30 to close a 5-point deficit and put the game into overtime.

Saturday 11:00 a.m. vs. Arena Heat.  Hung in the game against a very good shooting team until 5 minutes left in the first half (21-24) then ended up losing 61-86.  Scoring: Heber (35), Miller (10), Sebald (6), Banks (6), Isaac Sipple (4) and Hurless (2).  Miller and Heber had 10 and 9 rebounds for the Twisters.

Saturday 7:00 p.m. vs. Steel City All-Stars. Down by 7 after 12:30 into the first half, the Twisters fought their way back to make it an exciting game losing 59-61. Heber nailed a three from the corner to make it 59-61 with 20 seconds left. Steel City missed their free throws giving the Twisters an opportunity to score with 10 seconds on the clock but the ball was turned over before a shot could be taken. Scoring: Heber 28, Miller 21, Sebald 8, Banks 2. Rebounding: Heber 11, Miller 6, Nathan Sipple 3.

Sunday 1:00 p.m. vs. Culver (Class 2A).  A balanced scoring attack and tough defense kept the deficit in single digits around 9 points most of the game and the game ended with a loss to Culver 43-52.  Scoring:  Moore 18, Heber 13, Miller 9, Sebald 3.

Sunday 4:00 p.m. vs. Plymouth (Class 3A). This game between two good defensive teams got off to a rough 0-10 start until Heber hit a 3 and layup make it 5-10 with 14:00 left in the first half.  A Miller 3 with 7:53 left gave the Twisters the lead 11-10 with 7:53 in the first half.  Two free throws by Sebald with 19 seconds left made it 16-18 at halftime.  A Banks free throw early in the second half made it 17-18. The gap widened as Plymouth converted turnovers into layups but Heber's next 7 points and Moore's old fashioned 3-point play midway through the second half still had the Twisters within 6 points against a tough 3A school, 27-33,with 8:00 left on the clock.  However, two more Heber free throws was all they could produce the remainder of the very loosely officiated contest and they lost 29-46.  Scoring: Heber 15, Miller 6, Sebald 4, Moore 3, Banks 1. Rebounding: Heber 9, Moore 7, Miller 5.
